Menopause Reflexology

Menopause is a transformative journey, marking the end of the reproductive years. Perimenopause typically starts between the ages of 40 and 50 years, with the subsequent transition through to Menopause (meaning the cessation of menstruation), on average, taking 4 years. During this time, the body undergoes significant hormonal changes, with progesterone and oestrogen levels beginning to fluctuate and eventually dramatically fall. And although a natural part of ageing, menopausal symptoms can disrupt daily life. However, there are some lifestyle changes that we can make to ease some of the symptoms of perimenopause and menopause, which will make the transition easier.

Reflexology can be a valuable support for women throughout the menopause and although it cannot stop the natural process it can certainly help to restore calmness and balance. By harnessing the power of touch and stimulating key reflex points, reflexology provides natural relief from many menopausal symptoms:

  • Hormonal Balance: Reflexology may help balance hormone levels, easing symptoms like hot flushes and mood swings.
  • Stress Reduction: Menopause can be a stressful time, but reflexology promotes relaxation and reduces stress, helping to alleviate anxiety and tension.
  • Improved Sleep: Many women experience sleep disturbances during menopause. Reflexology can promote better sleep by calming the nervous system and inducing a state of deep relaxation.
  • Pain Relief: Reflexology has been shown to alleviate various types of pain, including headaches, joint pain, and muscle aches, which are common during menopause.
  • Enhanced Circulation: By improving blood flow and circulation, reflexology can boost energy levels and alleviate feelings of fatigue.
  • Supporting Overall Well-being: Beyond symptom management, reflexology supports overall health and well-being by enhancing the body’s natural healing abilities.
